NEC to Announce Official Election Results Tomorrow Morning

PHNOM PENH: Tomorrow, the National Election Committee (NEC) will announce the official results of the 7th National Assembly election, including the allocation of parliamentary seats and the chosen candidates.

The results will be broadcast on August 5 around 9am on National Television of Cambodia (TVK), National Radio of Cambodia (AM 918 KHz, Radio 96 MHz and Wat Phnom FM 105.70 MHz), the Cambodian News Agency (AKP), the NEC website (electresultnec.gov.kh) and on the NEC’s mobile app and social media accounts.

NEC spokesperson Hang Puthea confirmed to EAC News that the election results were processed following no compaints after the NEC’s provisional election results were announced on August 1.

He said the NEC will send the official election results to key institutions such as the King, the Senate, the National Assembly, and the Office of the Council of Ministers, in addition to being sent to all political parties.

Preliminary results showed the CPP and royalist FUNCINPEC party being the only two out of 18 parties to score seats in the National Assembly, with the CPP dominating the election with 6,398,311 votes and FUNCINPEC with 716,490 votes.
